Sidelines
02:01
|
|||
What can I do to make this day different
Searching for a slight change
Makes it feel all the same
Wake to another humid morning
Exist until afternoon
Showers are in full bloom
And then the clouds clear as the sun wanes
Steam rises off asphalt.
Todays sideline sitting is my fault.
I’ll participate in the night
I’ll escape these four walls, my cocoon and come alive
Wander downtown to a dive,
As life comes into focus I see I’m repeating last night.
Somethings feeling different
Somethings feeling true
Something’s feeling special
because tonight I met you
Onward in to the night,
I’m Consumed by magnolia’s
Kaleiscope of neon lights
One drink to set the soul free
Then one too many
Then lights out at the Mutiny

Fireworks
01:57
|
|||
Shaking like I did as a kid on the Fourth of July
Aiming with one eye, I’m playing marksman
Explosions over water
Hoping it won’t be long,
Before you realize, the tides dictate the waters
Sitting in the sand not far from the point, where we shot off fireworks and the outlook was bright,
boy have times changed
And so have you and I
When I see the beach I know I’m home now
I wonder how you are, and I wonder if you wonder the same about me
You’re out of reach like the salt breeze teasing the taste of a thing I forgot I loved
Come take my hand, when the screen door slams, we’re off to the point and the outlook is bright,
Like a vision you dance across the beach as the radio plays

Smoke
02:22
|
|||
Smoke
Stop romancing your vices
And folding your dreams into thin air
Like the smoke from the wand between you fingertips,
Drifting off, getting lost,
In search of the feeling,
A little fighting spirit, a little hope and believing
In running down a dream
Before time runs out,
It will always of ever been
Just a dream.
Don’t run out of tomorrow’s.
Don’t run from living today.
The only one tracking the score is you.
So try and keep the pace.
Hold your breathe just a little bit longer,
You’re suffocating in monotony,
Clear the smoke so you can see
You’ll need some air to take a leap

Awkward
02:31
|
|||
Don’t you remember
That first kiss with a different lover
It’s stressful, sinful, sexy and somewhat awkward
Is it normal to be so self conscious
Lean in for the closing kiss,
Neither of us had a clue that the night was going to end like this,
But we’d been friends for a while and it seemed to all make sense
To sin a little and fuck repentance
It’s my fault, I ignored your first and when it came my turn you gave me exactly what I deserved.
The cold shoulder, in a Florida summer, at the time all I wanted was you and the familiar structure
It’s all just history now
But the question still remains…

Better Days
03:20
|
|||
I wear my heart up on my sleeve
What else can I be but apologies
until I’m set to turn to dust
A story caught on repeat
Anxiety from a skipping cd
And questions of trust
Darling hold on for a better day,
One where you can look me in the eye and say you’ve changed
Counting change and coming up short
Hold your comments I’ll hold my retort
Until I’m set to turn to dust
You said you don’t like my attitude
But I come bearing platitudes
Adjustment is a must
Darlin Hold on, believe you’ll change
Shape shift in the best of ways
Come on and taste the faith
In yourself. i know you have the fire

Cut the Leash
02:46
|
|||
Face forward and smile,
Push on through to a new day
Its been a struggle for a while
No longer a young man sinning
Just an old man singing for change
Today, today,
Cut the leash and turn the page,
Make today your finest moment
Make a statement, a communique
Hold your breath, count to ten
Only your voice can say when
It’s An exhale of a lifetime
Taste the new, taste the wild
Feel the freshness of a broken routine
You’ve been stuck in for a while
No longer a young man sinning
Just an old man begging for change
Morning breeze catching leaves,
I’m taken with the sound of ocean from the trees
Finding beauty in the moment
A flash in time when you know you have won the day

Go Back Home
03:36
|
|||
Tell me once tell me twice, tell me a thousand times
Like a skipping CD that is caught on repeat,
Just one more night, just take your time
But it will be alright
Let’s go back home, before the clouds roll in, and the darkness consumes the rest of the day
You and me tonight, let’s burn the fires bright, alright?
Count the seconds between the lightning and the thunder, I blink twice twelve years go by and I start to wonder is this my home
I saw the rain come down clear on a summer day,
reacquainted with a former clarity
You know the path, you know the way
So why is there a wait
Take me home
Give me the words,
Pen to paper never hurt
Throw me a line that works
As I start to wonder
Do I go back home

Howl at the Moon
02:43
|
|||
We’re liars, and sinners, and winners at least part of the time
And the other part we’re truth tellers and saints all parties painting a facade
Where do we find ourselves today, is open to debate… and I wish I couldn’t relate
I want to howl at the moon,
I want to run wild in the streets,
I want to feel a feeling that I can believe
You might not be guilty
in the moment
It’s a natural selection of feeling
There’s blood on your hands and you know it
But upon reflecting we come to find pretense
And that’s when we understand the reason
I’m about to surrender,
To the night, and neon lights because…
